Down To Earth grocery store on King Street offers an excellent opportunity to request clip board signatures. The public sidewalk is adjacent their main entrance, so we can be near all of their customers as they enter and leave the store. We'll have signs and invite people to join in our 'ask.' Some of us can focus on 'sign waving' at cars, others can focus on speaking with passerby, requesting they join efforts to promote MFA. We are asking Senators Schatz aand Hirono and Representatives Luke and Case to sign on to MFA but also to do more than just add their signature and then continue as they, which is to ignore the massive financial and personal benefits of Universal Single Payer Healthcare. We need our elected representatives to use their platform to host regular events at which the truth that MFA does not "take away choices" but instead gives everyone every choice, etc. The insurance and pharma lobbies spend roughly 100 million per year on anti SP disinformation. We need our elected officials to push back with the truth. Senator Schatz grudgingly signs MFA, but in person he opposes single payer. Senator Hirono once said, "if we could start all over, of course we'd have single payer, but now it's just too hard." Rep Case once said, in a private meeting, "i do agree that we should all be in the same risk pool." But he remains defiantly opposed to MFA and will not sign. Rep Luke has stated support for MFA; great, now we need her to help promote it. All of them need to hear us demand Medicare For All now, so lets gather on May 20, create more supporters, and all of us will call, email, and social media bird dog these officials into the action they are supposed to take.
