Tell Alameda Co.: Prioritize public health!
MAKE A PHONE CALL NOW TO THE ALAMEDA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS: (510) 726-8383
We are asking you to make a phone call right now to insist the Alameda County Board of Supervisors take action to protect patients.
Here's an example script you can use when you reach a staff member or a voicemail box. Be sure to mention if you are a nurse or health care worker!
Sample script:
"Hi, my name is ______, I’m calling in support of the Alameda Health System nurses who are striking to protect their patients. During the most dangerous pandemic of our lifetimes, management has refused to consider proposals for safe staffing and patient care, and have even disciplined nurses who speak out against dangerous working conditions that put nurses and their patients at risk.
County nurses have been negotiating for safe patient care and safe staffing for almost two years now with no contract in place to protect them or their patients. This will be their second strike. Meanwhile, the Board of Supervisors has remained silent and unresponsive to nurses’ requests for leadership and intervention. I’m calling to insist that you act now to protect public health by removing the AHS Board of Trustees — and after two years of negotiating, agree to a contract with the nurses! Thank you."
