Tell San Joaquin Co.: Prioritize public health!
MAKE A PHONE CALL NOW TO SUPERVISOR KATHY MILLER, CHAIR OF THE SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS: (209) 452-2456
We are asking you to make a phone call right now to insist the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors take action to protect patients.
Here's an example script you can use when you reach a staff member or a voicemail box. Be sure to mention if you are a nurse or health care worker!
Sample script:
"Hi, my name is ______, I’m calling in support of the San Joaquin County nurses who are striking to protect their patients. During the most dangerous pandemic of our lifetimes, nurses are staffed at dangerously low levels — putting them and their patients at risk. The county has failed to provide the resources nurses need to do their jobs and insists on cuts that will result in dangerous nurse turnover.
County nurses have been negotiating for safe patient care and safe staffing for almost two years now with no contract in place to protect them or their patients. This will be their second strike. Meanwhile, the Board of Supervisors has remained silent and unresponsive to nurses’ requests for leadership and intervention. I’m calling to insist that you work with nurses to protect public health — and after two years of negotiating, agree to a contract with the nurses! Thank you."
