Tell MedStar to Stop Illegal Wage Theft at MedStar Washington Hospital Center

Dear CEO Samet and Chair of the Board of Directors,
 
As a member of the community, I am dismayed to learn that MedStar has been committing wage theft. MedStar is violating the law by falsifying pay records, paying nurses incorrect amounts on payday, failing to pay nurses on the correct date, allowing missed paychecks to go unpaid for weeks and pressuring staff to work “off the clock” at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.  
 
In the same way MedStar is shortchanging nurses their legal wages, Nurses are currently facing a struggle to achieve safe staffing, workplace safety and fair compensation at the bargaining table. Nurses provide world-class care under immense pressure. They should not have to fight to be paid for every minute they work. When MedStar fails to pay its staff fairly and legally, it undermines the morale of the caregivers we rely on and impacts patient care.
 
I am calling on you to: Cease all wage theft immediately, ensure all back wages are paid immediately, including liquidated damages for those affected and negotiate a fair contract for nurses. The community is watching how MedStar responds to these serious allegations. We stand with our nurses and demand full accountability. Show us how you treat people.
