Call Congress and tell them to support the VA Employee Fairness Act

We need your help to urge our elected officials to support the VA nurses in their fight for a voice at the bedside and the decision-making table.

The VA Employee Fairness Act (H.R.3261/S.1650) would give registered nurses and other clinicians working in the VA the full collective bargaining rights they need to advocate for their patients and for their own health and safety. In hospitals across the country, the ability to bargain collectively through a union has resulted in major improvements in staffing levels, access to PPE, workplace violence prevention, nurse retention, wages, and benefits.

Take action by calling your members of Congress today and demanding that they cosponsor this important legislation. Calling is easy, just use our hotlines below:

Call your U.S. representative: 202-410-7717

Call your U.S. senators: 202-519-0122

Here's a short script you can follow:

Hi, my name is_____. I am a constituent and a [veteran/nurse/health care worker]. I’m calling today to ask you to support the union rights of nurses in the Veterans Health Administration to advocate for patient safety without fear of retaliation. We know that when RNs have a say in safe staffing levels, optimal personal protective equipment, and other patient safety issues, we can save lives. Please co-sponsor the VA Employee Fairness Act (H.R.3261/S.1650), which would give nurses and other clinicians in the VA the right to bargain collectively on patient care issues. Thank you for supporting the nurses who care for our nation’s veteran heroes!
