Tell Congress: Support Prime Nurses and Patients!

Nurses at Prime facilities across California, Illinois, Maine and Nevada are facing retaliation for speaking up and fighting for their patients. Prime healthcare has illegally placed four nurses on unpaid leave and fired two at Olympia Fields Hospital in Illinois, fired a nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL, fired six nurses from St Mary of Nazareth in Chicago, IL, fired two nurses from St Mary’s Regional in Reno, NV and fired 14 nurses at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, ME. Additionally, three other Prime facilities, West Anaheim Regional Medical Center, Shasta Regional Medical Center and Saint Mary’s Medical Center, have been working without a contract for a year.  

Prime Healthcare’s behavior is illegal and outrageous. Putting profits over patients and nurses only harms our hospitals and the quality of care we all deserve.  

Call your U.S. representative and demand that they step up to defend union nurses in their right to speak up for their patients and form a union. When calling the U.S. House, please urge them to sign Rep. Chellie Pingree’s letter to the Prime Healthcare CEO’s Prem Reddy.

I’m calling today to urge you to support Prime Healthcare nurses who are facing illegal retaliation for exercising their right to speak up for patient safety by signing onto Rep. Chellie Pingree’s letter to Prime Healthcare CEO Prem Reddy urging them to reinstate the illegally fired nurses and come back to the bargaining table. The 2,500 nurses are fighting for basic and common-sense protections like safe staffing, adequate resources, and fair pay and benefits for the many frontline health care workers who provide quality care to our communities.
