Tell Congress: End the militarization of our cities!

President Trump’s order to forcibly remove, jail, or involuntarily commit unhoused people from Washington, D.C. streets is a violation of their civil and human rights. The order will also damage the city’s health care infrastructure by unnecessarily flooding hospitals with a surge of patients.

This order is an unlawful and immoral use of National Guard troops and city police. We will not stand by silently while Trump takes actions reminiscent of Nazi Germany’s roundup and incarceration of people it deemed “undesirable.”

We condemn this mistreatment of people who need our help and healing, as well as Trump’s threat to extend this order to more cities across the country. We call on our elected leaders to end this militarization of our cities and to instead work to pass programs such as Medicare for All to guarantee health care for all people living in the United States, and policies that provide decent housing, living wages, education, and safe environments for all.
