Urge your Senators and Members of Congress: Support Safe Staffing for RNs!

We are excited to announce the introduction of two federal bills in Congress and the Senate, the Nurse Staffing Standards for Hospital Patient Safety and Quality Care Act, H.R. 3165 (Rep. Jan Schakowsky) and S. 1567 (Sen. Sherrod Brown). Frontline nurses, health care workers, and community members are coming together to advocate for mandatory, minimum, safe, nurse-to-patient ratios in hospitals nationwide!

These bills would set specific safety limits on the numbers of patients each registered nurse can care for at any one time in hospitals throughout the United States — and it's important that we generate as much support as we can from our lawmakers now.

Assigning more patients per nurse has been linked to higher risk of medical errors, complications, and readmissions, as well as higher death rates. And for nurses, it can often contribute to burnout and injuries on the job.

We need your help to get this bill passed to improve working conditions for nurses and to protect patients. Take action by urging your elected officials to support this critical legislation.
